Found in the south west of Mallorca, Santa Ponsa sits in a niche in the rocky coastline.  It’s comparatively close to the airport only a 30 minute drive, 33km/20miles.  Palma city center is virtually the same journey time just a little closer to Santa Ponsa.

Santa Ponsa has a very large sandy beach, lots of amenities for tourists and has become very popular with families.  During the summer season it’s a very lively place and has a nightlife to match with many bars and clubs open.

Santa Ponsa has a lot of history for Mallorcans but it doesn’t reflect very much in the town itself.  The resort hasn’t got the heart of an old town center to bring an ancient atmosphere.  However most visitors don’t come here for a historic vibe and in fairness it’s easy to visit nearby Palma city for culture.

What Santa Ponsa is today has arisen from an old fishing village to become a relatively modern resort made up of apartments and lots and lots of private villas.  What is lacking in historic culture is made up for with its classy elements, i.e. a world class golf complex and a unique marina which moors many luxury yachts.  There is also a deeper harbor for larger yachts, Port Adriano, located on the east side of Santa Ponsa by El Toro.

Santa Ponsa has a main beach which is set back in a very large cove and has a lot of sand being 100m wide in places and has a shore length or around 600m. There is also a smaller cove near to the middle of the resort and another beach between Santa Ponsa and El Toro to the east.

The beach has been awarded a Blue Flag and has the usual facilities of sunbeds, beach activities and watersports including SCUBA diving.  The beach has a spacious promenade which allows for easy access to the sand and to  bars and cafes.

For those wanting a break from the beach there are a variety of holiday shops to enjoy such as gift, craft, souvenir and cloths shops by the promenade as well as local produce and ceramics.
